MonoTone

Seems like the mono-color theme be a popular choice next Summer.
Many designers showcased the same color/print head to toe looks in their Cruise 2011 collections. Take a look below.

3.1 Phillip Lim
Balenciaga single tone pant suit
Celine (heart) matching top and bottom. Please note: The trend is not of a one-piece suit, but separates in same print and texture.
Erdem’s floor length gowns
Chanel’s sought after Cruise show. The matching shirt-pant look reminds of the seventies pajamas look somehow.
Marc by Marc Jacobs (R) and Marc Jacobs (L) Cruise 2011
Goddess Stella McCartney’s matching skirt suits for Cruise 2011
Givenchy Cruise 2011.

Too Cool For School

I try to make aesthetic sense of the look but I fail. I talk about the footwear selection from Alexander Wang’s Crusie 2011 collection.
Maybe I am too cool for the Wang school in 2011, because this look reminds me of the 10th grade/ Engineering student/ I-own-only-crocs-besides-these-floaters kid who roams in the Delhi streets during winters wearing floaters over stained white sports socks.

Celine Me

I know now the meaning of the frequently used ‘fashion expression’ ” I DIE”.
It is Phoebe Philo’s Celine magic.

Who would have thought the Samantha Jones early SATC seasons’ staple brand – Celine, will one day be the definition of effortless and cool. Phoebe’s powers are unmatchable (okay, Stella McCartney is a strong contender) and the latest Cruise 2011 collection just proves this point.

If there was ever a reason to loose weight, it is to try and imitate the androgynous look from above. no?

Knight in Shining Armour

Burberry did it again: Live Streaming of the menswear show. 3D, where available. Online purchase right after viewing on the runway.

But what stood out what was the trend. The studs and leather are back! One of my most favorite bags that I could never imagine to purchase was the Knight Bag from Burberry Prorsum previous collection. Not spotting any similar trend from the brand’s collection in the following seasons’ I dreamt that one day I would find a pot of diamonds and be able to buy a vintage Knight Bag from Agyness Dean. Guess dreaming can be put on hold as the menswear SS 2011 collection indicates that they are bringing back the spikes, studs and leather look. The Male models ended the show with spiked rugged leather jackets and man purses in covered in spikes.

Cannot wait for the Women’s RTW SS 2011 collection to stream live online!

100th Red Balloon

One of my favorite person – Palak Mehta, is a budding artist currently sweating it out at the Delhi College of Art. A visit was due as had drawn many cliche notions of an ‘art school’ in my head. Palak’s work was on display and happened to be the most eye grabbing piece in the lawns. A giant Red Ball. It’s presence and meaning was much deeper than just a red ball. You can read all about it on her blog – http://zen-and-art.blogspot.com/2010/03/eap-vol-1.html.

Palak with her creation. She is an Eco warrior.Wants to find the perfect material to create sculptures from which are environment friendly. The next version of this project will be in a better material.

She even put tape in the entrance of the installation so that birds do not enter and get stuck in it.

Other great pieces on display in the college.

Palak’s dream is to make an installation from the top of the Statesman Building one day. I think that day is not far.

Spotted: In Stella McCartney pumps

What would you say is the perfect Indian designer to match Stella Mc Cartney?

Namrata Joshipura of course.

Grazia’s latest appointment Meghna Bhalla was seen wearing the Namrata Joshipura dress with her Stella McCartney pumps during the AW 2010-11 Delhi Fashion Week.
While I chickened out wearing sneakers on all days, Meghna showed the way truly following Anna Della Russo’s ’10 front-row rules’ to the dot.

Atsu FW 2010-11

The images above do not do complete justice to Atsu Sekhose’s Fall collection. Having missed the show, I feel I did see the best of the collection hanging from the hangers in his fashion week stall. His collection is simple yet luxurious. The color palette as always defines his mood for the season. The full skirts and billowy blouses in mustard & greys along with some gowns in lurex and fiery red chiffon paint a pretty picture. It is good to see life in Atsu’s vision.

Quote of the moment: Anna Dello Russo

“When you don’t feel to dress means that you are depressed. You need a FASHION SHOWER.”

Endless Legs

Lara Stone is the face of Calvin Klein jeans for their Fall 2010 Ad campaign. Even though it doesn’t reflect Ms. Stone’s best assets, the ad reflects the USP of any great denim brand – long lean legs.

The images are shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot.
It has been a good start for Calvin Klein. Lara Stone and Lady Gaga, who else would you want to endorse your brand!?
